US Opens - Has Roger Federer Rekindled His Desire To Win?

The Olympics Gold in Doubles gave me a great lift, it really inspired me and i really hope to use that to do well here

ROGER FEDERER opened his defense of his US Opens crown with an emphatic 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 straight sets victory over Maximo Gonzalez. The above quote was given during an interview after the game.
For the first time since 2004, Roger Federer began a tournament ranked world no. 2.
Although it is still early to tell how far Roger Federer will progress in this tournament, it is obvious to all that he played the match with a lot more confidence, patience and definitely much more desire than in recent games (excluding the Olympics Doubles game).
I have stated in my previous posts on Roger Federer that i firmly believed that his skills are as good as ever, it is only his desire for winning that has waned.
Well it seems that the Olympics did help him, though in a way that he might not have expected. Unforced errors dominated his game in his loss in Singles quarter-finals to James Blake. His first time pairing with Stanislas Wawrinka, however, led him to the Olympics Doubles Gold medal.
In that match, many would have agreed with me that Roger Federer displayed the desire to win that have been missing for most part of 2008! He punctuated every winner with victory fist pumps and screams of joy! And who can forget his winning celebrations with Warinka! Now, normally i would find myself laughing at two grown men hugging and jumping up and down. Yet when Federer celebrated as if he won his first tournament, it certainly endeared the audience to him when they see that he still have the fire in his eyes!
Michael Jordan once explained why top athletes have dips in form - that being at the top for so long can make one forget how they got there. That perhaps could be said about Federer, who have been at the top for the past 4 years.
The question is - Will Roger Federer be able to bring the same desire to all his future games and perhaps capture the US Opens for a fifth consecutive time? Or will he crumple under pressure again?
