Power Of Beliefs

Whether You Believe You Can or Cannot, You Are Right!
We must heard the above quote for the umpteenth time. For once, lets try to examine the validity of the statement.
We all have choices. Nobody can realistically say they are forced to do something against their will, unless someone points a gun to your head.
Now suppose i ask you to choose to believe in something. For e.g, suppose you are playing a game of soccer, and by virtue of your speed, you are alone in front of the goalpost with no one in front of you, not even the opposing keeper. Facing an empty goal, about 10 yards away from you, how would you attempt to score your goal?
Suppose you might have missed several open goals immediately before this, and your confidence level have taken a beating, how would you attempt to strike this time? Would you hit it with a firm powerful shot, or would you attempt to roll it into the net by side-footing it? Chances are, not only will you side-foot the ball to goal but you might even go much closer to the goal before you attempt to do so!
Conversely, if you are 100% confident that no matter how you strike the ball, it will head for the net, how would you attempt to score? You will probably thump a shot into the goal, with or without the goalkeeper, because you are absolutely confident!
Beliefs Affect Our Actions
Our everyday life is filled with actions like putting our foot down on the ground and walking around the house, or walking from the house to the supermarket and back. Actions that we take without giving too much thought.
Suppose I were to tell you, that mines have been planted at unspecified locations around your neighborhood, and suppose you just witness a neighbor being blown up because he stepped on one of the many mines around, now how you would take your every steps?
The above illustration might seem a little far-fetched, how it serves to illustrate the power of beliefs on our actions.
In sports, seemingly impossible comebacks were often inspired by the beliefs of the players. If Eli Manning of the New York Giants, did not believe his teammate David Tyree could make the catch, do you think he could throw the “miracle” 32 yard pass to him? If Tiger Woods with an ailing left knee, did not believe he could come back after trailing Rocco Mediate in the recent US Open, we would never would have been able to see one of golf’s greatest display of determination and desire to win.
The list of exceptional plays goes on. And we are able to continue to witness some of the miracles plays of sports because the players believe in themselves even when everyone else think its impossible.
Sometimes you just have to believe, and miracles will happen. If u do not play with belief, you will never know what that feeling is like.
One of our main problems is that we all want to achieve something badly, but deep inside, some of us do not believe its going to happen. When you believe its not possible, you are restricting the amount of potential on display! It is only when you believe with every single fibre of your soul, then you will be able to utilize all your potential and resources to achieve your goals. Otherwise every action you take would be half hearted, and when the going gets tough, you will give up. You have to believe and see your outcome in your mind before it happens.
I asking you to test it out, when you go for your next game or next training, play or train with a lot more belief, belief in yourself, in your teammates and see what will happen. After all, whats the worst that can happen?
