Five Essential Steps To Achieve Your Goals

If you had attended any Motivational or Goal Setting seminar, you would find that one particular philosophy is commonly preached. That is to put yourself on the line! This means making a public commitment that you are going to achieve the goal. For example, if you want to write a book, you will publish brochures detailing the launch date of you book. This kind of motivation is known as “Putting Yourself On the Line!”
2 years ago, I put myself on the line. And i thought by doing that i will succeed. I took a scholarship with a MNC for my university studies and in exchange i had to work for the company for 4 years. Just as i started work, i set myself a goal to make $1M by the age of 30. 10 months onwards, I decided that staying with the company will not enable me to achieve my goal, as the demands of a scholar left me with hardly enough time to sleep, much left any time to achieve my goal. I then took the less traveled road of breaking my bond. Read more
How To Get Over Your Frustrations?
May 11, 2008 by MyRoyalWay · Leave a Comment
The funny thing thing is when we get frustrated, we tend to do the same action over n over again. For example, when we face a formula problem with Microsoft Excel, we will repeat the exact same action that we did, the only difference is that when you type, you type Harder! And if it fails, you do the same thing again, and even harder this time! You might even find yourself saying “ what the $#%@ is wrong with you?” to the computer or whatever thing you were dealing with.
The kind of unexpected attention you are getting when people find you speaking to non-living things is hardly important, as compared to your actions. You keep doing the same actions but you expect a different result, obviously you are going to be frustrated! Some people even say if you keep doing the same thing and expect different result, you are nuts!
Frustration like many of our emotions, are a signal. It is telling you that whatever you doing right now, might not be the solution. Very often, the solution is a simple one, and is right in front of us. We just need to take a backseat, get disassociated from the intensity of the experience, and very often we will experience the “Ahh!” moment.
How To Get the better of your frustrations?
1) First have to recognize that every problem can be solved, and its not by repeating the same action!
2) Get disassociated from your experience. What i mean is, instead of stepping into the experience, try looking at yourself, like watching a movie of yourself going through the same experience! (I bet you will find it funny when you look at yourself repeating the same actions this time!)
3) Look at yourself in the movie, and think of how you will suggest solutions to yourself.
Step 3 may seem a little strange, since we do not usually suggest things to ourselves. However isn’t it true that we tend to make lots of comments whenever we watching some movie or drama serial, like when you see a guy trying to open the door knob of his girlfriend’s house, to save his girlfriend from gas intoxication, you find yourself saying “Knock the Bloody Door Down!”
We always suggest things to others, why not suggest to ourselves? Get the better of your frustrations today!
